AJ Roach
A. J. Roach was raised in the deep hollows of mountainous Scott County, Virginia, home to such legendary American music pioneers as The Carter Family and the Stanley Brothers. AJ's relentless touring schedule over the last few years is becoming infamous in the songwriting world. In the past four years he has traveled over a half million miles and performed nearly 1,000 shows in a dozen countries. In May of 2004, he was the winner in the general category of the coveted Chris Austin Songwriting award at MerleFest, placing him in the company of such seasoned veteran artists as Gillian Welch and up-and-comers like Tift Merritt and Adrienne Young. Other artists that AJ has shared concert bills with over the last few years include: Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Steve Earle, James McMurtry and The Be Good Tanyas. AJ has made live performance appearances on nationally syndicated television shows and a wide assortment of radio programs in the US, as well as numerous performances on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Northern Ireland. In addition to live appearances on National Dutch Radio, AJ and his band, The Strange Pilgrims, have also appeared live on Dutch Television. Find out more about A. J. and his band at www.RoachMusic.com.

Christina Kowalchuk w/ special guest Margrit Eichler
Christina Kowalchuk is a powerhouse singer-songwriter with a wry, spry wit and a relentlessly open heart. She’s got a soulful, arresting voice, a huge range, and an equally huge personality, all of which come through in her music. With catchy tunes, compelling lyrics and killer arrangements, her indie-rock-folk-pop songs are sticky as honey, and just as sweet.

Emily Zisman
Emily is Short. Not short in the "short tempered" sense, but more in the "vertically challenged" sense. She is also flexible (in the bendy sense) and tends to stick her foot in her mouth. She has been singing since before she can remember (which doesn't really make sense but sounds pretty) and playing guitar since she was 10. This is her first time playing in a festival at the Edinburgh and probably to a crowd this size. But don't tell her, she may freak out. www.myspace.com/emilyzismanmusic

Michael Burles
Michael Burles first picked up a guitar in 1997 with the simple intention of learning to play "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire. While slowly approaching this goal, he found himself writing and singing several original tunes, dealing with topics ranging from love to dreams to legos, often drawing on biographical material from his past. With a simple, direct, and at times irreverent approach to performing, Michael enjoys storytelling through verse, both belting out tunes of his own or singing songs by his favorite artists that speak to the universal themes of the human condition. He has performed in four different bands on three continents with seven guys named Chris, in addition to his solo appearances throughout the west coast.
