Land Acknowledgment

SFFFF recognizes the Ramaytush Ohlone people, who are the traditional custodians of the area of San Francisco. We pay our respects to Ramaytush Ohlone elders, past, present, and future who call this place their home. We are proud to build upon their tradition of bringing voices forward and respecting all members of our community.

SFFFF acknowledges gaps in the history of the Bay Area community caused by colonization, and that Ramaytush Ohlone peoples as original caretakers and storytellers of Yelamu have maintained balance with nature for millennia; and that it is impossible to fully understand the history of San Francisco without acknowledging, recording and understanding the traditional history and knowledge and practices of the Ramaytush Ohlone people.

SFFFF wishes to thank the indigenous community for their stewardship, support, and wisdom.

“When we talk about land, land is part of who we are. It’s a mixture of our blood, our past, our current, and our future. We carry our ancestors in us, and they’re around us. As you all do.”
– Mary Lyons (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe)
